Lake El Salto’s Record Largemouth Bass (Where To See It For Yourself)

On a lake where 10 pounders are fairly common and the average bass caught weighs four pounds, you can expect just about anything to happen. Fact is, you don’t have to be an expert bass angler to pull out monster bass from Lake El Salto. It may be the best trophy bass lake in the world due to the real possibility of literally any angler catching the fish of a lifetime.

With so many largemouth bass being caught in this lake, it makes you wonder how big is the biggest? Well, that record belongs to an angler from Midland, Texas who visited Lake El Salto about 15 years ago.

Lake El Salto Record Bass

The largest bass that’s ever been caught on Lake El Salto was caught by a fisherman from Midland, Texas and weighs a whopping 18.8 pounds.

You can see a picture of it right here, on the Outdoor Life website.

Where Can You See The Lake El Salto Record Bass?

The Lake El Salto record largemouth bass can be seen at the Anglers Inn Resort where it currently hangs over the bar.

About Lake El Salto

Lake El Salto first opened for sportfishing in 1990, with Largemouth Florida Bass that, due to the warm water temperature, grew into a very big and aggressive BASS.

Lake El Salto is a scenic destination located on the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. It was built on the Elota river around 1990 and spans approximately 27,000.00 acres.

This is ecologically diverse terrain, and it is home to one-third of Mexico’s land mammals. Sightings of everything from black bears and pumas to wolves, coyotes, and whitetail deer are possible.

The lake and nearby coastal marshes are a birdwatcher’s paradise, teeming with ducks ranging from pichiguila (fulvous tree ducks) and redheads to pintails and cinammon teals.

Raptors such as peregrine falcons, Mexican black eagles, osprey, white and great blue herons, Harris hawks, and kestrels have also been spotted.
